Port of Long Beach Vehicle Pickup

If your vehicle arrived at the Port of Long Beach, you don’t need a TWIC card and you don’t go inside the port. A TWIC-credentialed Ship2Shore escort enters the secured terminal, locates your vehicle and brings it to the gate, where we complete a condition report with you.

How pickup works at the Port of Long Beach

  1. Send us your paperwork

Send the items listed below. Your Delivery Order must name Ship2Shore Booking in the “Local Delivery or Transfer By” box.

  2. We check status and set the appointment

Long Beach is an appointment pier. We check with the steamship line and customs to see whether your vehicle is clear, then set the appointment.

  3. Gate pass and clerk sign-off

At the terminal we pick up a gate pass from security, present your Delivery Order at the office and get the clerk’s sign-off.

  4. Your escort finds the vehicle

The escort goes to your vehicle and brings it to the gate. If it needs it to leave the port, a jump start, air and two gallons of gas are included.

  5. Condition report and handoff

A condition report is completed at the gate, with photos and video when required, and signed at handoff.

Terminals we work with

In Long Beach we work with these terminals: Matson Auto & Oversized Cargo Yard on Pier C St, ITS Pier G, TTI Pier T and LBCT Pier E. Not sure which one holds your vehicle? Your Bill of Lading or steamship line can tell you, or call us.

Days and notice

We pick up at Long Beach Monday to Friday. The port is closed on weekends.

We need 24 hours’ notice because the pier works by appointment. Same-day pickup is sometimes possible when the terminal is not busy, so call (310) 748-0040 and ask.

Port and terminal hours can change. Availability depends on the port’s schedule and on whether your vehicle and paperwork are cleared before pickup.

What you need to send us

Your Delivery Order must name Ship2Shore Booking in the “Local Delivery or Transfer By” box.

What it costs

A jump start, air and two gallons of gas are included if needed so the vehicle can leave the port. Electric and hybrid vehicles, and anything more involved, go to the port’s professional mechanic. You pay after handoff, by credit or debit card through a secure invoice link, Cash App, Venmo, Zelle or Apple Pay.

Need your vehicle moved after pickup? Call us and we'll connect you with a carrier.

Questions

Do I need a TWIC card, and can I come into the port?

No to both. You never need a TWIC card and you do not go inside the port. Our TWIC-credentialed escort goes in for you.

Can you pick up my vehicle tomorrow?

We ask for 24 hours’ notice, Monday to Friday. Same-day is sometimes possible when the terminal is not busy, so call us and we’ll tell you what the terminal looks like.

What if my vehicle is not cleared yet?

We check status with the steamship line and customs, but they and the port decide when a vehicle can be released. We can’t clear it for you. Once it shows clear, we set the appointment.

What if my vehicle won’t start or is electric?

A jump start, air and two gallons of gas are included if needed so it can leave the port. Electric and hybrid vehicles, and anything more involved, go to the port’s professional mechanic.
